Sydney Out Back is proud to promote the work of Australia’s major water safety, drowning prevention and rescue organisation – Surf Life Saving (SLS) – and their fantastic app, Beachsafe (www.beachsafe.org.au/app).

Sydney Out Back uses the extensive BeachSafe app as our go-to source of information on all our Beaches tours, and our friends at Surf Life Saving (SLS) NSW are working alongside us to make sure we rely on the correct facts when it comes to staying safe on our coast, including dangerous surf warnings, rip currents, sharks, general beach safety and rock fishing.

If you’re visiting any one of Australia’s 11896 beaches, especially along NSW’s coastline, you’ll appreciate BeachSafe’s tips that might just safe your life. Sydney Out Back makes practical application of BeachSafe for all our Beaches tours – check it out!

SLS and Sydney Out Back agree that being BeachSafe is a priority. So,  here are our top three beach safety tips for this summer:

  • Always choose beaches that are patrolled when you are in the water, and swim between the red and yellow SLS flags
  • Never turn your back on the waves; the ocean is unpredictable – as are other swimmers
  • Always know key information about the beach you are visiting, such as water conditions/hazards (ie. blue bottles, sandbars or rips) and how to get attention of SLS if you need help in or out of the water

Visit www.beachsafe.org.au/app to download BeachSafe for yourself but; before you do, tell us your top tips for staying safe on Australia’s beaches.
